Shared facilities - one Campus
The pleasure and discipline of sport forms an important part of Prep's education programme, with the emphasis on participation and the value of sport as a life-long activity.
St Andrews College, DSG and Prep share campuses and facilities, creating a unique and open range of scope and experience available to pupils. The beautiful Fairlawn campus is an idyllic setting for the School's numerous tennis courts, playing fields and cricket nets. Although the School swimming pool is situated at Top Prep, the pupils also have access to College's pools, the Aquatic Centre's Olympic-size, heated indoor pool at the Diocesan School for Girls, as well as the squash courts and hockey Astroturf at St Andrews College.
Because Prep and College are combined, we have specialist training from professional sportsmen, which enhances the children's' skills and game knowledge tremendously.
At St Andrew's Prep, children discover that hard work yields rewards, that being part of a sporting team enriches their lives. They face challenges, overcome obstacles, manage the disappointment of defeat and share the exhilaration of victory.
At the Junior Prep, boys and girls receive ball skills instruction and swimming coaching during school hours. After school, they participate in the traditional junior school sports of rugby, cricket, hockey, tennis, soccer, cross country, squash, swimming, water polo and athletics. Pupils also have access to golf as a special interest sport.
Although Prep is proud of the boys and girls who have represented both Albany District and Eastern Province in their chosen sports, we are as proud of the enthusiasm and ethics that all our boys and girls display in their daily participation in sport.
First teams are chosen on merit, while players in the lower sides are rotated to enable all children to gain match experience.
Prep hosts an annual squash tournament and participates in the Independent Schools' Cricket Tournament. Regular fixtures are scheduled against other schools in the district. Prep combines winter or second term sports and participates in a Winter Tour each year competing against schools from neighbouring provinces.
